Essential Oils FAQ

Q. Are Well & Ground Essential Oils Therapeutic Grade?

    A. Well & Ground's oils are 100% pure and undiluted. They are free from any additives and are ideal for aromatherapy. Sadly, "Therapeutic Grade" can now be misleading as it has become more of a "marketing term." The danger is that not all oils available to customers from all companies are high quality. Oils of poor quality can be marketed as "Therapeutic Grade," which unfortunately causes frustration for customers as the oils don't work as they thought. Because of this, we don't like to use this term; however, we are confident our oils are as good as they come and can provide many benefits.

     Q. Can Well & Ground Essential Oils Be Used Internally?

    A. All of our essential oils are 100% pure and potent and must be used correctly. Therefore, we do not recommend the internal use of any essential oils.

    Q. Are Well & Ground Essential Oils Ethically Sourced?

    A. All Well & Ground oils are sourced from a carefully selected small group of ethical suppliers (only about 4-5 in total) that do not exploit workers who are growing the crops from which the oils are made.

    Q. Are Well & Ground Essential Oils Cruelty-free, Vegan, Non-GMO, and Gluten-free?

    A. Yes, to all the frees.

    Q. Where Are Well & Ground Essential Oils Bottled?

    A. Asheville, NC

    Q. What Is The Recommended Dilution Rate For Well & Ground Essential Oils?

     A. As a general rule, essential oils should be used in a 2% dilution for "topical application of oils" on adults when an essential oil does not have a more restricted dermal recommendation. Always use essential oils with care and only under the proper guidance of an expert while pregnant or if you have liver damage, epilepsy, cancer, or other serious health problems.

    Q. Is Well & Ground A Multi-level Marketing (MLM) Company?

    A. Nope. Just an NC small business that desires to provide 100% pure essential oils without the markup.

    Q. How Do You Store Well & Ground Essential Oils?

    A. We recommend storing your essential oils in a cool dark place away from direct sunlight and high humidity. In addition, it's necessary that the caps are secured tightly, and oils are not left in warm environments such as a car.

    Q. Are Well & Ground Essential Oils Certified Organic?

    A. We don't have an organic certification…yet. This is a lengthy process; however, it is in the works. For our organic oils, we have certificates from suppliers confirming their organic status; however, since our facility is not organically certified, as soon as it reaches the facility, we lose the "badge." So yes, the oils are technically organic, but we can't use the badge at the moment.

    Q. Do Well & Ground Essential Oils Have An Expiration Or Used-By Date?

    A. There are many different opinions on essential oil shelf life in general. Our suppliers (and us as well) say the oils are good for one year from purchase. However, the reality is that most oils will last a lot longer than that. We say one year as the supplier may have had the batch for 6-9 months, which may have been harvested 3-6 months before. So the oils are suitable for a couple of years. Some woody oils get better with age (Cedarwood, Sandalwood), and Jasmine ages well too. But the citrus oils will go off quicker as they will oxidize if the oils are exposed to the air too often.
